6 Sustainable Bedding Brands with Organic Sheets, Duvets, Pillows, and Blankets
We spend a third of our lives in bed — so naturally, it’s among the first sustainable switches many people want to make to avoid synthetic fabrics and toxic chemicals in the bedroom.
To help you on your hunt for better bedding, we’ve curated a number of brands with responsibly-made pillows, throws, duvet covers, and coverlets that will transform your bedroom into a sustainable sanctuary. The eco friendly bedding brands we’ve curated offer fabric options that are better for both our skin and the planet (such as organic cotton, organic linen, bamboo lyocell, and TENCEL™).
These brands also uphold high standards for ethical production, choosing manufacturers that pay fair wages, ensure safe conditions, and have achieved certifications from reputable organizations such as OEKO-TEX and the Fair Trade Federation.
1. Coyuchi
Sustainability has been part of Coyuchi’s mission since the brand was founded in 1991. Coyuchi is truly an earth-first home and lifestyle company, and follows responsible production practices throughout its supply chain — from the farms where the fibers are grown to the final stages of production.
The brand sources ecologically friendly materials such as linen and organic cotton and supports the Chetna Organic Farming Cooperative, an organization working to improve the livelihoods of farmers in multiple states of India.
To provide guarantees of responsible practices, Coyuchi seeks fabrics and manufacturers with certifications from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and the Fair Trade Federation. Additionally, Coyuchi looks for practices such as renewable energy and water recycling when choosing vendors to partner with. And as part of their transparency efforts, Coyuchi works with many small- to mid-size, family-run manufacturers that they have long-term relationships with.
