Meet the maker Indego Africa
Indego Africa has been dedicated to supporting the creation, growth, and sustainability of women-owned businesses in Africa since 2007. They partner with artisan women groups in Rwanda and Ghana to handcraft home decor and accessories using time-honored techniques that have been passed down for generations. From raffia weaving and hand embroidery to wool-spinning and woodcarving, Indego Africa supports artisans’ masterful work and talent to showcase traditional African artistry. 100% of Indego Africa’s profits are invested in their artisans’ education to help them gain market opportunities to achieve their career goals and grow their own businesses. Striving to be as environmentally friendly and ethically-responsible as possible, all their artisans use natural, indigenous fibers from local markets and farms in their communities that are hand-spun and hand-dyed with flower, vegetable, and local plant dyes.
